Tiny Rock in Senior Dog’s Stomach Causes Big Trouble

vet bill

Michelle, the human of a 13-year-old rescue dog named Zippy, faced a $6,000 vet bill after discovering the cause of her pet’s unusual behavior. Zippy, who already had a preexisting heart condition, developed a severe cough that alarmed Michelle and her partner. Despite initial suspicions that Zippy’s heart condition had worsened, further tests revealed a foreign object in his system—a tiny rock.

Michelle’s refusal to accept the initial diagnosis led to numerous vet visits and tests. Eventually, an endoscopy was required to remove the rock, which was causing reflux and aspiration. This experience highlighted the high cost of veterinary care, especially for pets with preexisting conditions, and the challenges of not having pet insurance.

Michelle shared Zippy’s ordeal on TikTok, getting over 906,600 views and widespread Support. Despite the financial strain, she was relieved to have found the root cause of Zippy’s distress and have him on the road to recovery.
