Pet care can be expensive for many reasons. Food, toys, veterinary care, and more can quickly add up to a large total. However, for some pet caretakers, the financial impact can come from more unexpected sources. Recently, an Argentinian pup named Indica went viral when she ate 56,000 Argentinian pesos. This amount is the equivalent of 206 U.S. dollars. The pit bull mix’s expensive snack was discovered when her human, Juan Peroni, arrived home and found her surrounded by the remnants of the money. In the video, Juan shows the remains of the paper money she had consumed. The camera then pans to Indica. Her adorable face looks as though she could not possibly be guilty of the crime!

Luckily, Indica did not suffer any adverse effects after eating the money. The pesos appear to be paper notes. If a dog consumes paper money, it may pass through their system naturally. However, it is still important to contact a vet and let them assess the risk to the dog. If a dog eats metal coins or shows symptoms of distress, they should be taken to the vet immediately as they could require surgery. Distress symptoms include lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
Despite her expensive snack, Juan shared the video footage of Indica as a humorous post. Many of the video’s viewers were also amused by the situation. One joked “There is no video proof of him doing it, therefore there is no proof that he is guilty.” Looks like the adorable Pit Bull may be off the hook! Currently, the video has been liked nearly 313,000 times so public Support is clearly on Indica’s side.
While Indica was fine, consuming inedible objects is a common occurrence among dogs and poses a real danger. Sign this petition to advocate for Access to Humane Veterinary Care!
