The U.S. Forest Service has gotten the green light to shoot down 150 feral cattle in New Mexico from helicopters. The reason given for this mass murder is that the cows are trampling habitats and are supposedly a “threat” to hikers in the area. This method will cause the cows to experience a lot of stress from running from the helicopters and once they are shot they may take several hours to die. This is a “quick fix” and doesn’t address how the feral cow population came to be there in the first place. Please sign this petition to urge the U.S. Forest Service to come up with more humane methods to address this issue!
