There are some people in this world who will answer a call for help, no matter the circumstances – even when their own lives are in jeopardy. One group of such people became heroes when they risked their own necks to save a baby giraffe who was stuck in Kenya’s crocodile-infested Uaso Nyiro River.

The poor, baby giraffe had been trapped for more than four hours in the middle of the water. When a group of Samburu men in the area spotted the creature, the couldn’t stay idle and watch this beautiful creature succumb to the river, or worse – the crocodiles! They made the daring and courageous move to dive in and save the giraffe.

The men trekked into the river, putting themselves in danger of the fast-moving water and hungry crocodiles.

They reached the distressed giraffe and grabbed a hold to lift his body out of the water.

Incredibly, the men and the giraffe made it out of the water unharmed. This baby giraffe now has a chance at life thanks to these amazing rescuers!

This unbelievable save is a perfect example of what humans are capable of when duty calls. Even in the most dangerous situation, these brave individuals showed an incredible amount of kindness and helped an animal in need. Stories like this inspire us all to be a hero for animals.
