We’ve been seeing a lot more interspecies relationships pop up recently, but a fairly new friendship between a paralyzed cat and an abandoned dog might just take the cake.
The Orland Sentinel recently reported on the beautiful relationship between a young cat, Ruth and a dachshund, Idgie, both named after characters from “Fried Green Tomatoes” to honor their very special bond.
The pair was found by Animal Services in Florida, abandoned at the end of someone’s driveway. Animal Services then took the two to Hollywood Hounds in Orlando.
Hollywood Hounds was amazed by the love Ruth and Idgie exhibited for each other from the very start, eventually deciding to adopt the adorable pair into the store’s care.
Now, Ruth and Idgie are permanent Hollywood Hounds residents, receiving almost round-the-clock attention to “mak[e] up for lost time,” Jacqueline Borum, Operating Partner of Hollywood Hounds told the Orlando Sentinel.
