North Carolina Man Charged with Animal Cruelty for Heartless Act of Puppy Abandonment

A North Carolina man has been charged with animal cruelty and animal abandonment for heartlessly tossing a defenseless puppy from his car window. The incident took place in Bryson City, North Carolina, right in front of the PAWS Animal Shelter, an establishment dedicated to rescuing and providing care for abandoned, abused, homeless, and injured cats and dogs in Swain County.

Surveillance cameras captured the heart-wrenching moment when a man driving a jeep cruelly ejected a puppy from his moving vehicle, even though the shelter’s gate was open and assistance was readily available. The callous act of tossing the puppy onto the road exposed it to immediate danger and left the animal traumatized and frightened.

PAWS Animal Shelter, deeply concerned for the puppy’s well-being, swiftly shared the distressing CCTV footage on social media, seeking the help of the public in identifying the perpetrator. The organization’s plea for assistance was met with an outpouring of Support from concerned citizens, many of whom provided valuable information about the man and his vehicle. This crucial community involvement played a pivotal role in identifying and charging the individual responsible for this heartless act.

In the aftermath of the incident, the terrified puppy fled the scene, compounding the distress of the shelter’s staff and volunteers. PAWS Animal Shelter immediately initiated a search mission to locate the missing pup. The organization has utilized game cameras, surveillance cameras, and around-the-clock efforts to track down the puppy.

Despite their dedicated efforts, three days have passed, and the puppy remains missing. The shelter has expressed its deep concern for the animal’s safety and well-being, emphasizing that they will not give up on the search. In a heartbreaking update, the shelter shared that their food offerings for the lost puppy have thus far only attracted neighborhood cats and raccoons.
