Marine Life Under Threat Under Trump’s Second Term

The reelection of Donald Trump as President of the United States casts a long shadow over the future of endangered marine life. With a history of undermining environmental protections and a disdain for climate science, Trump’s policies pose a significant threat to vulnerable marine species.

During his previous tenure, Trump notably lifted fishing restrictions in the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument, a critical habitat for endangered marine life and delicate deep-sea corals. Furthermore, Trump’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement on his first day back in office signals a grim future for climate action.
