When most people think of cows, they imagine mindless animals who are more than happy spending their days chewing on grass and being milked. While this might be the image the dairy industry sells to consumers, there is actually much, much more to cows. Like cats and dogs, cows are incredibly social and emotional animals. They have been known to mourn one another. One study even found that cows have best friends and when they are separated for long periods of time, they get stressed out! Sadly, because most people only think of cows as meat or dairy, we never get to see these amazing qualities.
The little girl in this video, Elli, knows that cows are more than just commodities. To her, they’re friends! Seeing Elli snuggle up with Luna the cow is sure to bring a smile to your face. Now this is the kind of life that all cows should get to enjoy!
