Life in shelters can be incredibly difficult for dogs. Whether they are brought in from the streets or surrendered by their families, the loud and cold environment of a shelter can take a serious toll on the mental and physical well-being of animals. Luckily, there are plenty of kind volunteers and vets in these facilities who go above and beyond to help them adjust. Just take this video from BARCS Animal Shelter for example.
In this video, Dennis Moses, BARCS Surgical Assistant is comforting Meesha, a little puppy who just came out of surgery. Coming out of anaesthesia can be a scary experience for anyone, let alone a pup who has no idea what is happening. To help this sweetie feel better, Dennis takes to snuggling and rocking her just like a baby. Seeing this display of compassion and kindness absolutely melts our hearts to bits.
You never know how a little care and comfort can change everything for an animal in need. We have no doubt that Meeshs is in wonderful hands at BARCS and will go one to lead a happy, healthy life thanks to amazing people like Dennis. To learn more about this shelter, click here.
