World’s Awesomest 9-Year-Old Starts His Very Own No-Kill Animal Shelter! (PHOTOS)

Just like any other kid, Ken loves animals — especially dogs. The 9-year-old regularly fed the stray dogs around his neighborhood in the Philippines, and hoped to one day open up his very own animal shelter. He expressed his compassionate desire to his father, who told him that it would take a lot of hard work and a lot of money. It would take a very long time for his dream to come true, Ken thought.

When Ken was eight years old, he created a website just for animals. He uploaded drawings of animals pleading readers to “Save the Animals!” and posted many of his artworks on poles throughout the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, Ken didn’t receive any response at the time.

“…I wouldn’t stop talking about making an animal shelter,” wrote Ken on the Happy Animals Club website, “My dad even told me that i was getting on his nerves and if I say the word ‘animal shelter’ one more time he would not buy me any more books that month!”

Luckily, Ken didn’t give up. He kept his eye on his dream and continued to feed the stray dogs near his home. Photos of him feeding dogs circulated on the Internet and it soon became viral.

Ken soon heard from people all over the world and received donations of all kinds. He was able to build a temporary animal shelter for the three stray dogs he befriended. He named his new nonprofit, no-kill shelter, The Happy Animals Club.

With the help of kind donors and volunteers, the Happy Animals Club is slowly building up. The three stray dogs that Ken had befriended will soon be up for adoption. Ken has gone ahead and given them names. Meet “Blackie, Brownie, and White Puppy!”
