Well, we’re packing our bags and heading to Rabbit Hash, Kentucky! The small town just named a Pit Bill named Brynneth Pawltro, Brynn for short, as the town’s mayor and the cuteness is overwhelming. The three-year-old rescue Pit Bull landed the important role after beating out several other animals, including a cat named Stella and a donkey named Higgins.

Brynn won by a landslide with more than 3,300 votes! She is the town’s fourth consecutive dog mayor. The last mayor was a Border Collie named Lucy Lou.

Mayor Brynn ran a platform of “peace, love, and understanding.” Hey, we can get behind that!

“Brynn has declared to be peaceful with any human or animal that comes through Rabbit Hash, especially the cats. Brynn does like to chase the cats around here, but has pledged to refrain from it as much as possible,” Brynn’s guardian, Jordie Bamforth, told Huffington Post.

Rabbit Hash residents are quite happy with their new mayor, saying that Brynn is very friendly, outgoing and loves to give out kisses.

Brynn’s first order of official Mayor business: belly rubs!

Because Rabbit Hash is such a small town, there is no need for a real mayor (don’t tell Brynn that). Instead, the town’s elections are more of a fundraiser. One vote costs $1 with residents being able to vote as many times as they like. The money they raise goes to a cause in the community, with this past election raising nearly $9,000, and the money going toward restoring the town’s general store that burned down from a fire.

Not only is it adorable that Rabbit Hash has a dog for a mayor, we hope this action will help dispel some of the myths about Pit Bulls. Sadly, Pit Bulls have a euthanasia rate of 93 percent in shelters, due to unfair stereotypes against them. Although they are just as capable of being great companions as any other dog, many think they are innately aggressive because they are commonly abused as fighting dogs.

Years ago, Pit Bulls were even considered “Nanny dogs” because of their loyalty and gentleness toward their guardians. They were also once an American favorite, earning the title “America’s dog.” Brynn is certainly Rabbit Hash’s favorite! Keep up the good work, Mayor Brynn.
