You won’t believe your eyes if you haven’t already seen this video of a dog being transported in a trailer behind a truck. The whole concept sounds normal enough … until you realize it’s an open trailer! The only thing stopping this poor dog from literally falling out is the fact that he is tethered to it, which looks just as unstable as the poor dog probably feels.
Andi Isom, a resident of West Paducah, Kentucky was appalled to see this scenario as she drove behind the truck, watching the dog struggling to stay upright. After the video was taken by her nine-year-old and posted to Facebook, Isom wrote along with the post, “I cannot believe what I’m seeing!!! This guy needs found! West Paducah by Hucks! Please share this!!!!.”
Needless to say, the video created a frenzy among animal lovers concerned for the welfare of the dog, which appears to be an Australian Cattle Dog. ABC News 7 reported that the video footage was reviewed by the McCracken County Sheriff who said that although the video is “alarming,” it is not illegal.
Regardless of the legal status, it seems most people are in agreement that this type of carelessness and treatment of any animal is not only dangerous but cruel. This can easily cause a major accident if the dog were to get spooked and fall or try to leap off the trailer. The stress the dog is probably going through is also a cause for concern. All the noise, traffic, and instability of the rope strapped to the dog’s collar. You can even see that the dog is positioned closer to the edge of the trailer than in the back where it would be slightly safer. Everything about this method of transportation is wrong and hopefully, everyone including the owner of the dog learns from this unfortunate situation.
Please share this video and encourage everyone you know to report this kind of harmful activity when they see it. It might not be illegal to transport a dog in this manner, but if enough people express concern we can make a law eventually happen!
If so appalled why did they not do more? or did they?? Just a thought. I would have done more…might have gotten myself into trouble, but I would have done more to call attention to the jerk who was driving. It may not be illegal, but is unethical, so why is it that no one cares about ethics anymore… This state along with several others needs to enact some laws and guidelines, as there are people in every state who over breed dogs, don\’t take care of their kids or pets, abuse and abandon, and this kind of stupidity. Cannot turn responsibility over to people – they aren\’t smart enough! Someone should find out where this dog is at and help him out.
