Although you would probably never guess that pet homelessness is a major issue in the U.S., there are over 70 million stray dogs and cats currently roaming the streets. Some of these animals have been homeless their entire lives and others were abandoned by their families and left to fend for themselves. Whatever their back story, all these animals deserve the chance to live in a safe, loving forever home, but sadly, very few ever get this happy ending.
Rescue From the Hart is an organization that is working to change this fact for homeless animals. Recently, the Rescue From the Hart team was called to save a homeless dog who was found wandering through a neighborhood in California. While they did not know how long this pup had been living on the streets, it was clear that she was not comfortable around people. But the rescuers were not willing to give up on her and eventually coaxed her close enough to get a leash on her.
After naming her Skye, the team brought her back to their facility and discovered she was pregnant! Thanks to the work of these kind individuals, Skye was able to give birth to 10 puppies in a safe, clean space. Mom and her brood of precious puppies are thriving and ready to be adopted into a forever home!
