A dog’s human in Northern Illinois was in for a surprise when he checked the live stream of his dog’s daycare center and discovered his pup staring straight back at him. Buster, a three-year-old Weimaraner, and Great Pyrenees mix, lives with his owner Leif Henrikson. Henrikson explained, “He was going to a local Dogtopia where we could log in throughout the day and view the different cameras for each room. He is definitely looking right at the camera—I took a screenshot on my phone right away.”

Doggy daycare is an excellent choice for pet owners who may have commitments that leave their furry companions alone for extended periods. While pets may have a different sense of time than humans, experts recommend leaving even well-behaved dogs alone for more than four hours.

A hidden security camera took the amusing photo, and Henrikson was astonished that Buster appeared to have found the camera’s location. However, despite Buster’s camera-friendly demeanor, he did not enjoy his time at the daycare.

“He’s such a gentle boy but hated it there,” said Henrikson, who used to take Buster to Dogtopia three to four times a week. “Too much BDE (big dog energy) for him. Buster was asked not to come back after he went after another dog across the entire room who wasn’t bothering him at all. We think he was saying, ‘If you won’t take me out of this place, I’ll make sure I’m not welcome back.’ Too smart for his own good.”

Henrikson discovered the screenshot while browsing his pictures and decided to share it on Reddit’s r/funny forum. The image received thousands of reactions from users who enjoyed seeing Buster’s seemingly smiling face. One user commented, “Dad, can you come pick me up? I’m hungry and I’m tired… I know you’re watching.”

Doggy daycare antics often amuse the internet, with numerous stories and videos of pups’ hilarious experiences going viral. Reflecting on Buster’s photo’s attention, Henrikson said, “I was blown away by the amount of attention it received. Buster had a rough first year of life—he contracted heartworms and lived in a shelter for over six months. We are taking every opportunity to make the rest of his years great.”

If you have a dog that needs company while you’re away, consider doggy daycare as an option. Not only will your pet enjoy socializing with other dogs, but you may also be treated to hilarious moments like this one. And who knows, your dog might just become the next internet sensation!
