The short clip shared by the Daily Mail features an adorable baby elephant who is only one hour old and still trying to learn how to use her new legs. The baby takes a tumble, but thankfully her loving parents quickly come to the rescue and help their newborn back to her feet.

It comes as no surprise that family is important to elephants because they are very empathetic and intelligent creatures. Studies have shown that elephants will comfort one another when they are distressed by offering comforting caresses and chirps of sympathy to let their friend know everything will be okay. Elephants are also great at working in a team. Elephants display cooperation that, so far, has only been confirmed in humans and our closest relatives. Even more, female elephants help look after each other calves. This babysitting is important because the young females learn how to look after the little ones before they become mothers themselves. Pretty amazing, right?

But unfortunately, not everyone in the world sees elephants as the beautiful, smart individuals that they are. The reality is one elephant is killed every 15 minutes in Africa, with a staggering number of 100 killed every day for their tusks due to the illegal ivory trade. There are only 650,000 elephants remaining on the planet and they are in real danger of extinction.
