For many people, farm animals and pets like dogs and cats are two completely different “kinds” of living creatures – maybe, in a way, even opposites. Playing fetch with a dog, letting them on your couch, and feeding them special treats is just what one does. Showering a pup in kisses also does not seem like anything out of the ordinary – after all, pets simply like affection. As a rule, farm animals are not seen in that way and are not thought to like affection the same as pets do. But the thing is, they do.
Pippin is one of the many donkeys who does not just like being the center of attention and getting all the pets and cuddles– but loves it.
At Santuario Compasión Animal, his forever home, the donkey came to have a very special friendship with one of the volunteers. Every time Pippin gets to enjoy a little cuddling session, he instantly transforms into the happiest, most relaxed donkey in the world. Just like a dog (a big one, admittedly), he closes his eyes and eases into the pets. Now, if you told Pippin that farm animals did not really like affection that much, he would be pretty confused!
