Meet Evan, a beautiful boy who is in desperate need of help.

Houston & Harris County Animal Volunteers got involved when they heard about him after Evan was spotted alone on the streets of Houston. Evan has been living on the streets for longer than anyone knows. His skin is in a terrible condition, and he’s missing chunks of his fur. Evan is exhausted from living such a harsh life outside without any food, comfort, or shelter. He is in constant pain, he’s hungry, and he just looks like he needs a big hug.

When Evan was given blankets to rest on instead of the cold floors he is so used to, he had no clue what to do with them – doesn’t that just break your heart? There have been no morning walks, no treats from a cupboard, no couch to snuggle up with someone who loves him. Evan has never known a moment’s kindness in his life until now.

Houston & Harris County Animal Volunteers has arranged for Evan to be checked over at a vet. He is thankfully heartworm negative despite looking like he’s been to hell and back. We think Evan might have been close to giving up when he was found, and who could blame him? When his life has been nothing but a cruel one, what reason would he have to keep going?

Thankfully, all that sorrow is behind Evan now. The vets are unable to say how old he is, but let’s ensure that the rest of Evan’s life is a peaceful, loved one. He needs donations towards his medical care and rehabilitation so that he can get strong and healthy enough to be put up for adoption.

The thought of how many thousands of dogs there are living a life like Evan’s on our streets is just too much to bear. This is why it is so crucial that we become a nation of dog adopters, helping these beautiful dogs live the lives they deserve instead of the ones that have been forced on them.
