Dog Joins Four Men During Charity World Cup Walk in Brazil (VIDEO)

Four English soccer fans, who embarked on a charity trek through northeast Brazil last month – hoping to raise money to build a well in the drought-stricken region of Bahia – were surprised to be joined by a mysterious black labrador halfway through!

Bradley Campbell of Public Radio International, who covered the incredible story, reported that Adam Burns, one of the walkers, initially believed the dog was a stray “because he smelled so bad.”

The pooch stuck with the walkers for several miles, refusing to leave them even when they attempted to shoo him away. That night, the group set up their tents and went to sleep – and as soon as they woke up, the dog was waiting for them outside. From then on, the men accepted him as their faithful companion and named him “Jefferson Ramsey Moore.”

Five weeks later – three days before they completed their journey – the dog’s guardian Nacho contacted them revealing that Jefferson was, in fact, named Negro. He then hitchhiked 800km from Solis in Uruguay to Porto Alegre in Brazil to be reunited with his beloved pooch! Burns later said, “We don’t think Walt Disney could have made a more perfect ending.”

The group have now completed their walk, raising over £11,500 ($19,300 U.S. equivalent) for the community of Bahia. This amount represents just over half of their target amount of £20,000.
