When Heipi the dog was found walking through the streets of a town in China, he was crippled, blind in one eye, and covered in a painful skin disease. The poor pup also had a broken chain tied around his neck, suggesting that he somehow escaped an abusive owner.

If he had been alone on the streets any longer, Heipi wouldn’t have made it. Thankfully, Chinese animal advocates found the suffering dog and immediately got him help.

Heipi’s fate was unknown, but the animal advocates refused to give up on him. The kind people rushed him to Nanchang Small Animal Protection Association (NSAPA), which is partly funded and advised by non-profit animal rescue group, Animals Asia.

Vets and volunteers immediately got to work. Heipi’s broken leg was operated on and he received daily massages to help his muscles recover. After months of care, Heipi’s skin disease healed and his beautiful black coat returned!

“We’re so happy for Heipi – what he has suffered no animal should ever have to endure. We can never understand the motivation of those who perpetrate cruelty to innocent, loving animals like Heipi – but we take heart from knowing many more people stepped up to help him than caused his suffering,” said Animals Asia’s Cat and Dog Welfare Director Irene Feng.

Now, Heipi has a new loving family, complete with dog friends to play with and all of the love and attention he deserves. Watch the below video to see how adorable Heipi is today!

What an amazing rescue! Animals Asia has funded and supported NSAPA since 2015, and with their Support, this organization has been able to restore their shelter and provide medicine, dog food, and bedding for over 700 animals – ,many of whom have been adopted into loving families just like Heipi.
