Most people don’t realize how much cows share in common with humans. Although we often overlook them as simply being “food animals,” completely devoid of the ability to feel or comprehend their suffering, this is hardly the case. In fact, cows are incredibly emotional and intelligent animals. Did you know that cows have best friends and get stressed when they’re separated? Or that mother cows have special calls for their babies – similar to the names human mothers give to their babies? Not to mention, cows love music!
Just check out these musically inclined bovines who just seem to love the musical stylings of the didgeridoo. We have seen cows get down to clarinet music before, but these particular cows are more than just enjoying the tunes, they seem utterly entranced (yes, we went there).
If you thought that your taste in music was “worldly” and “eclectic,” these cows might just give you a run for your money!

As a multi-instrumentalist I know from personal experience that whales, dolphins and cattle are attracted to music. Playing my didgeridoo a few years ago along the spectacular Cape coast an adult Southern Right whale left its pod and swam at least 1km to where I was sitting playing on the rocks….it lifted its head and was watching and listening to me playing while it swam in small tight circles only leaving to rejoin its pod when I stopped playing. I have also been able to attract large herds of cattle who came running to listen to me playing the Pan Flute on one occasion and the Great Highland Scottish Bagpipes on another …..with the bagpipes the cows even started mooing along with the music. A friend of mine who is a very successful professional farmer with a huge herd of 1300 dairy cows has also told me that cows are much more intelligent than most other animals including dogs, cats and horses……For interested readers there is a wonderful You Tube video clip worth seeing ……Jazz for cows
Thanks for posting this video as a reminder that all life forms have an intelligence that if we are prepared to pay attention, will always amaze and surprise us Dr Bruce Copley, Pringle Bay, South Africa
Meh. Cows would still line up and watch if he stripped naked and farted the national anthem. Cows welcome any entertainment.
