This cow is living the life at Freedom Farm Sanctuary – a life that we can only hope all cows will one day be privy to – and it is one of the most beautiful things you will ever see. He is getting his rear scratched, running after his caretaker, and shaking his head back and forth in pure joy! Sound familiar? These are the same behaviors many of our pets at home display and enjoy. Buba the cow is a sweet reminder that all living beings have the same basic wants and needs including love, respect, and socialization.
Like Buba, all cows are social animals that love to run, play, and hang out with their best friends. However, that means they can also cry, feel depressed, and get lonely – a cycle that happens all day, every day in the life of factory-farmed cows. Male cows that are not sold to beef operations and are kept for breeding endure about 10 years of abuse until their semen quality declines. The territorial animals are kept in close quarters with usually only about two to three feet between them. They are typically tethered tightly by face harnesses so they can only move inches to reach their feeding troughs. For breeding bulls, this sad quality of life will still ultimately end in slaughter.
Freedom Farm Sanctuary is an incredible non-profit organization in Israel that is on a mission to rescue and rehabilitate cows and other farm animals from the meat and dairy industry. They also seek to change hearts and consciousness by inviting the public to visit, be exposed, and get acquainted with animals from industrial farms. This will allow people to recognize them as creatures with character, emotions, and social structure. Freedom Farm Sanctuary is the first farm sanctuary in Israel and was born out of the hundreds of thousands of people in Israel who seek to live in harmony with other living beings and view them as equals who are entitled to their own lives free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Freedom Farm Sanctuary in Israel is an amazing project founded by two incredible women, Adit Romano and Meital Ben Ari. The main goal of Freedom Farm is to allow the public an up-close relationship with animals that are usually seen only on our plates and about veganism in general. It is a real heaven on earth place!
No such thing as a dumb animal. And in many ways, smarter than humans.
The word "dumb" is usually improperly used. It is properly used to describe one who can\’t speak. Properly used, it is not a statement on one\’s intelligence. Except for a few sounds, particular to each species, animals are dumb; they can\’t speak, at least not with the complicated languages that humans use.
