Roo and Penny should be in the running for the best interspecies friendship on the planet.
Roo the two-legged Chihuahua and Penny the Silkie chicken began their friendship after they were adopted by Alicia Williams.
Penny was rescued from a research lab when she was only nine weeks old. Shortly after, Williams adopted Roo, who was found abandoned in a ditch at seven weeks old. Roo was taken to the animal hospital where Williams works and has since been inseparable from Penny. They ride in an animal carrier every day and join Williams at work, greeting the animal hospital’s visitors.
“They get along really well,” Williams said. “Penny gets excited when Roo is around because she knows he’s got treats and food all of the time. Whenever she hears him being fed, she steals his food. He loves snuggling with her because that’s his big teddy bear. He runs over her sometimes because he doesn’t realize how big his wheels are.”
This resilient pair is sure to inspire you and bring a smile to your face. We would love to have two friends as cool as these guys around every day, but we sure are glad we don’t have to style Penny’s hair in the morning…
