In the video, posted to the account @theroccoloco, Rocco can be seen sitting in front of a screen door, peering outside. Text overlay on the video explains what the cat is doing; “Every meal time, Rocco always checks the screen door to invite his friend to eat too” it says. In the next clip, two bowls of food can be seen on the kitchen counter. The camera then pans over to the same door, where a stray cat is seen peeking inside. Rocco receives his meal, and the other bowl of food is placed outside for the stray cat. Although the cat bolts away when the screen door is opened, he returns to eat his dinner.

More text explains that, although the poster has been feeding him for years, the stray cat remains frightened of humans. However, he has been fixed as part of a Trap, Neuter, Release program. TNR programs help manage domestic cat populations in the wild.

The video then shares a video of the stray playing with a wand toy through the open screen door. Although he remains frightened, both Rocco and his human are fond of the stray and will continue to welcome him to their home for mealtime.

Videos such as this reveal an often ignored side of domestic cats. Although felines are often thought of as “loners” they are capable of developing close emotional bonds. These may be with other cats, humans, dogs, or other animals.

Viewers loved the bond between Rocco and his friend. “This is the sweetest thing I’ve seen, lucky little muffin.” wrote VadaBeksinski58. Another user agreed, writing “Rocco is such a considerate King.” Currently, the video has over 44,000 likes on TikTok.
