As a child, on particularly windy days, my mother would always joke about having to tie weights to my shoes to keep me from blowing away. If you have ever lived by a body of water and experienced the strength of the wind when a storm is blowing, you understand just how practical this proposition actually is.
Perhaps little weighted shoes are what Sue Drommond could have used for Bibi, her petite Maltese-shitzu when she set out for a walk across Brighton pier. Facing gale-force winds, the little dog was forcefully knocked off the side of the pier while walking with his guardian and landed himself in Melbourne bay!
While Bibi was able to swim enough to keep his head above water, the strong winds and harsh current spelled disaster for this poor terrified pooch. Thankfully for Bibi and Drummond, a kind stranger nearby sprung into action to rescue the struggling creature.
