We have great news to share in the fight to end cosmetic animal testing! Cruelty Free International, the leading organization working to end animal testing worldwide, has teamed up international beauty brand, The Body Shop to debut a new campaign called Forever Against Animal Testing.

The goal of the online campaign is to gather eight million signatures from animal lovers from all over the world. With just one million of those signatures alone, the petition can get to the United Nations.

Together with The Body Shop, Cruelty Free International can reach even more people and urge the United Nations to implement a global ban on animal testing. Add your name to the petition and take a stand against cosmetic testing on animals everyone!

This isn’t the first time Cruelty Free International and The Body Shop have partnered to help animals. In 1989, with late founder Anita Roddick, The Body Shop become the very first to campaign against animal testing. In 2003, animal testing for cosmetics and cosmetic ingredients was officially banned by the European Union, a massive victory for animals still used for testing. But there is still more work to be done.

Animal testing for cosmetics is a horribly cruel practice in which animals such as mice, rats, and most often rabbits have chemicals and compounds rubbed in their eyes, nose, and mouth. These chemicals can cause irritation, burning, and corrosion of the eyes and skin such as in the infamous Draize test. What’s more, 50 percent of all animals die in lethal dose tests. Cruelty Free International estimates that 500,000 animals are used for cosmetics testing globally each year. The most shocking part about these tests? In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration does not even require animal tests – and the majority of the ingredients used in cosmetics have already been proven to be safe after years of use.

It’s time to let animals out of the world’s laboratories. Join us in signing this important petition today and ask all of your friends to do the same. And be sure to share on social media using the tag #ForeverAgainstAnimalTesting and make sure to tag @CrueltyFreeIntl and @TheBodyShop too!

  1. Of course 50% of animals die in lethal dose tests you clown. The test itself is called LD50. That literally means "lethal dose 50%". It stands for what dosage kills 50% of the test population. So in an effort to sound authoritative all you did was tacitly admit you don\’t know didly about toxicology. Btw, water has an LD50. Feel free to look that up.
