Billionaire Climate Champions Suddenly Quiet Under Trump

According to David Gelles, who reported on this trend in The New York Times, billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates have chosen not to speak out against Trump’s aggressive climate moves. In fact, tech leaders such as Mark Zuckerberg and Sundar Pichai—who once criticized Trump’s policies—were noticeably present at his inauguration. Companies that pledged millions to fight Climate change, including Google and Meta, have gone silent even as the president withdraws the U.S. from global climate accords and dismantles renewable energy programs on public lands.

Michael Bloomberg is one of the few to continue voicing opposition, promising funds to counteract cuts in federal climate Support.
