The Biden administration is planning on numerous health care changes for his administration, according to reporting from the Washington Post. From policy changes to appointees to federal agencies, expect to see some changes and some shifts back to policies taken by President Obama.
Because of government restrictions from the power of Congress, Biden may need to make some changes through executive order. Much of Biden’s agenda depends on if Democrats control the Senate or not.
Larry Levitt, executive vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation, said in a series of tweets that Biden would use executive power to expand coverage, and make healthcare more affordable. He also tweeted about the Trump actions Biden can switch, which include, “Short-term plans not covering pre-existing conditions ACA outreach cuts Work requirements and funding caps in Medicaid Gender identity discrimination Family planning funding restrictions Immigration limits for those using health benefits.”
Some Trump actions Biden can reverse:

ACA outreach cuts
Work requirements and funding caps in Medicaid
Gender identity discrimination

Advisers have also said that some Obama-era health experts will join the Biden team to help make policy. Most specifically, the Biden team has made clear the importance of experts and scientists in respective posts. “I do think there will be a course correction for wanting to have more scientists and doctors,” Kavita Patel, who served in the Obama White House as a policy director, told the Post.

All Biden’s health advisers and experts will be focused on Obamacare and making healthcare laws stronger. Biden in the office means, “we get preservation and enhancement of ACA to ensure that the newly unemployed and anybody else who lacks insurance has access,” said Chip Kahn, president of the Federation of American Hospitals.
Biden has already created a coronavirus task force and noted that he will rejoin the World Health Organization, two other important changes from the Trump era.
