Companion animals have sometimes been known to possess a sixth sense when something is not quite normal with their humans. In the case of Walter, “the genius dog” and “pregnancy detecting beagle” in this YouTube clip, he appears to pick up on the fact that his human mom is expecting another little human! Early on in the video, when she is just six weeks pregnant, it’s clear from the way he is poking her stomach that he just can’t wait for the baby to be born. He probably knows that the little child-to-be will one day be a perfect playmate for him!
Later on, when she asks him, “can you show me where the baby is?” he goes straight to her stomach and starts patting it – and you just know, from that furiously wagging tail of his, that he couldn’t be more excited about the situation.
Let’s hope that he and the new baby enjoy many years of quality playtime together!
