While there are a number of great leaders, both known and lesser known, who advocate for animals and the environment, it is sometimes the most ordinary of citizens who are best able to restore our faith in humanity like the teen boy who risked his life to save a baby deer or the father and son team who rescued a stranded deer on a frozen lake.

Perhaps it is because these compassionate beings make the choice to be selfless instead of selfish at the very moment when a critical situation arises.

Take for instance, what recently happened in Assam, India.

According to the Daily Mail, a baby elephant “tumbled into a ditch as it tried to keep up with its herd.”

The baby’s herd fled as a train fast approached the scene. Thankfully, the train’s driver was able to bring it to a halt and dozens of passengers poured out to help the baby elephant.

  1. It was kind of them to help him and to save him, but it makes me worry too since there’s no after rescue photos as to what happened to him once they brought him up? Was he able to get back to the herd and to his mother? Hope so!!
