Ashley, the dog has known her fair share of trauma in life. Born a stray, Ashley wandered into the wrong yard as a puppy and was brutally kicked and beaten by the homeowner. Thankfully, a neighbor witnessed the incident and came to her rescue. This encounter had left Ashley with a fractured spine and back legs and is paralyzed to this day as the result.
However, despite this tragedy, Ashley maintained a sweet and caring personality. The humane society that treated Ashley’s injury thought this disposition would make her a wonderful therapy dog for hospitals and nursing homes. The extent of Ashley’s injury was beginning to be too much for her foster family to handle. That is when the humane society director contacted Home for Life, an organization that takes in animal without other rescue options.
Home for Life offers a “Pet Peace Corp” program that enables the animals to get involved with community outreach.
