America Is Losing Ground in the Global Climate Race

The U.S. is falling behind in the fight against Climate change — and fast. According to Robinson Meyer, writing for The New York Times, recent efforts by President Trump to roll back environmental protections and disrupt trade policy are threatening not just the environment but also America’s global leadership in clean energy innovation.

In his opinion piece, Meyer paints a stark picture. And while climate change demands international cooperation and low-carbon prosperity for all, America’s retreat from trade and science could leave the world with fewer tools to transition away from fossil fuels.

The consequences aren’t just environmental. As Meyer explains, they’re economic and humanitarian too. Disrupted innovation, weakened research institutions, and political instability risk making clean energy more expensive and less available — especially to developing nations that need it most.
