One of the most useful qualities to have when it comes to rescuing dogs from the streets is patience. It took a whole lot of this to earn the trust of an abandoned dog who had been living on the streets for months in Florida. Volunteers of Redland Rockpit Abandoned Dog Project didn’t give up on this sweet girl and visited with her every day bringing her food, water, and good company. With time, she learned that they wanted to help and eventually gave in – ending her four-month ordeal as a stray.
Puddles is currently being evaluated by the vet and her rescuers are waiting on her test results.
With over 70 million dogs living on the streets in the U.S., shelters receive only around six to eight million which means millions of dogs left to survive on their own. By choosing to adopt a shelter pet, you are freeing up space in shelters, allowing another stray to be taken in and given a second chance at finding a permanent place to call home. Rescues like Guardians of Rescue are out there doing their best to rescue as many others as possible but it takes a lot of time and resources. These non-profits depend largely on donations from public supporters to help create the lives these animals deserve.
