There are a lot of apps out there to help relieve stress or to make you more mindful, but not as many that are solely dedicated to helping you sleep. Ironically, one of the reasons we don’t sleep as much nowadays can be linked to our long hours of screen time, so an app for sleeping may seem a bit strange. But there are some useful sleeping apps that don’t require you to stare at the screen for hours on end.

You’ll even find hypnosis, breath control, and ASMR in their vast library of content that is updated weekly. 3. Sleep Cycle

Sleep Cycle analyzes how well you sleep by listening to the sounds you make in bed. Essentially, it keeps tabs on your sleep cycles and then sends you an analysis of your sleep quality. It also can tell you what factors influence your ability to rest and what you might be able to change about your sleeping habits. The premium subscription costs $29.99 per year. Pzizz uses psychoacoustics, a branch in psychology that studies how sounds affect our brains, to help people sleep. They use ‘dreamscapes,’ voice narration, autogenic training, and more to induce relaxation. Academic researchers have even discovered how effective the app can be. Even J.K. Rowling loves it! Pzizz Pro costs $7.99 per month or $49.99 per year, and they offer a financial assistance program if you can’t afford it. 5. Bettersleep

Bettersleep has different modules that will help you wind down after a stressful day, fall asleep quickly, and get deeper sleep. It uses hypnosis, stories, tips, and customizable sounds to achieve this. It has been downloaded an astounding 55 million times! 6. Sleep Easy

Sleep Easy was created by the well-known sleep expert Dr. Richard Shane. It treats over 30 sleeping problems using customized programs that help you to get better with your sleep hygiene and can reduce the amount of medication you take for sleep. 7. SleepScore

The SleepScore app scores how well you slept. It uses the microphone on your phone to track your breathing and movement, then sends you an analysis of how well you did in every stage of sleep. 9. Oura

To use the Oura app you need to purchase an Oura ring. It’s not cheap (the generation 3 ring is currently listed at $299) but for anyone looking for a comprehensive analysis of their sleep, this is probably your best option outside of a sleep clinic. It keeps track of your REM sleep, deep sleep, light sleep, heart rate, temperature, nighttime routine, temperature, and more. The Oura app is $5.99 per month. 10. Sleepstation

Sleepstation is another expensive yet highly useful app. After you sign up you’ll be assigned sleep coaches who will help you figure out the issues which are affecting your sleep and then create a customized plan for you to follow. Throughout your sleep journey, you can raise any questions or concerns and your coach will be there to help. Sleepstation costs $149 but is free through the NHS if you live in England.
