8. Cafe Altura
Cafe Altura introduced the first biodynamically grown coffee to the United States in 1993. According to the company’s website, “Biodynamics is an evolved system of organic agriculture that blends the forces of nature with the influences of the moon and stellar constellations. Biodynamic farms are viewed as a whole organism, are virtually self-contained, and use certain preparations, such as specially developed compost, to be used to aid in plant and soil development.” Their coffee is also shade grown, organic and Fair Trade certified.
