Rapper and businessman, Nipsey Hussle’s tragic death recently shocked the world. Hussle was an advocate who had gang affiliations, but used his platform to speak out against gun and gang violence. Yet he was shot to death outside of his clothing store in his hometown of Los Angeles. His death brought people of all walks of life together to celebrate his life. His celebration of life ceremony took place on Thursday, April 11th at the Staples Center and his mother, Angelique Smith shared an amazing, powerful message with the thousands of people in attendance.

Smith has shown pure class and grace throughout this tragedy. She told the people in attendance, “I feel– no, I know that we are all divine creatures. We are all divinity within. We don’t need to look to the sky for a god. God is within. I have perfect peace. I am happy. I’m complete. I am strong. And if I can feel this way, so can you.”

She then encouraged people to embrace healthier lifestyles: “I want to encourage you to choose a vegan lifestyle. I want to encourage you to limit your use of alcohol beverages and narcotic substances.” By encouraging healthier lifestyles, Smith carries on her son’s legacy. Before his death, Hussle was working on a documentary about Dr. Sebi, a pathologist, herbalist, biochemist, and naturalist who encouraged communities to take care of themselves naturally with plant-based foods and other natural methods.

It’s a wonderful message to share with the people who are also looking to continue and carry on Hussle’s legacy. Positivity can come from such a tragic and difficult time. Not only will people be interested in having more discussions against gun and gang violence as Hussle did, but there might also be more awareness around not eating animals and choosing healthy lifestyles for our own wellbeing.
