Fashion 4 Development (F4D) showcased its commitment to social change and empowerment during the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly with two remarkable events: the 4th Annual Sustainable Goals Banquet and the 12th Annual First Ladies Luncheon.

The festivities commenced on September 23rd with the Sustainable Goals Banquet at 583 Park Avenue, where UN ambassadors, fashion industry leaders, and political influencers gathered to highlight the importance of the United Nations Sustainable Goals. The evening kicked off with a glamorous green carpet reception, followed by a buffet featuring Moroccan-inspired cuisine crafted by Master Chef David Fhima, which included a delightful selection of plant-based dishes by Chef Guo. The atmosphere was enriched with captivating performances from musicians associated with Broadway, including renowned artists from the Lion King production.

The event honored several distinguished individuals making strides in various fields, including Juliet Guo, founder of Sandriver Cashmere, who has been instrumental in empowering women in the Himalayas; Emmy and Academy Award-winning film producer Eva Orner, recognized for her impactful storytelling; Amy Green, CEO & Founder of The Green Vision and a prominent environmental advocate; and the mother-daughter duo of Lauren Bush Lauren and Sharon Bush, founders of the FEED initiative. Chantal Khoueiry, Chief Culture Officer of The Bicester Collection and founder of Brides do Good, was also celebrated for her commitment to empowering women.

The following day, on September 24th, F4D hosted its 12th Annual First Ladies Luncheon, co-hosted by F4D President and Founder Evie Evangelou and Yue-Sai Kan, a celebrated Chinese American television host and producer, who received the prestigious 2024 Visionary Award. The event served as a platform for First Ladies and Royals from around the globe, alongside diplomats, philanthropists, fashion VIPs, and key influencers, to celebrate the unprecedented cooperation between international diplomacy and fashion.

The luncheon featured F4D’s signature green carpet, cocktail reception, awards ceremony, and a fashion show showcasing Global Runway by Mirela Nurce, Sandriver Cashmere, and Wang Feng Couture. Guests enjoyed luxury bubbly rose from Aphrodise as they mingled and celebrated the achievements of individuals dedicated to making a difference.

First Ladies in attendance included the First Lady of Albania, First Lady of Angola, First Lady of the Bahamas, First Lady of Bosnia, First Lady of Bulgaria, First Lady of Colombia, First Lady of Guyana, First Lady of Vietnam, First Lady of Kosovo, First Lady of Fiji, and First Lady of Malta, among others. Notable attendees also included fashion and humanitarian leaders such as Fern Mallis, Julia Haart, Preeta Sinha, designer Helen Yarmak, Jean Shafiroff, Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, Glenda Bailey, Nia Thompson, and Dayle Haddon.

Evangelou welcomed all guests and introduced a video highlighting F4D’s initiatives, including its collaboration with South African fashion designer Thebe Magugu on The Harmonist fragrance, now available at Bergdorf Goodman. The luncheon culminated in a spectacular fashion show featuring designs that symbolize creativity and global unity, reinforcing F4D’s mission to empower communities through fashion.

As the event concluded, attendees left inspired by the powerful messages of collaboration, empowerment, and the celebration of cultural diversity.
