A refugee family in Ontario is facing deportation to Nigeria — even as their young daughter, Amirat, battles acute myeloid leukemia and depends on ongoing treatment in Canada. The family fled political violence after Amirat’s father was allegedly targeted and nearly killed due to his political affiliations. Sending them back now could be a death sentence.
Despite Canada’s image as a compassionate nation, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is reportedly moving forward with deportation while the family’s refugee appeal is still pending. Amirat’s condition requires constant hospital care — treatment she cannot access in Nigeria, where she was once misdiagnosed and denied medical help.
This family deserves safety, not exile. Sign the petition now to urge IRCC to grant permanent residency on humanitarian and compassionate grounds — and protect this child’s right to live.
