Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear about, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with your friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.
Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are 9 petitions you should sign this week, including Urge Congress to Codify the Clean Water Act into Law, Tell Norway’s Government to Ban Commercial Whaling, Pressure Florida Police to Find Person Who Threw Dog Off Bridge, and More!
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

The Supreme may once again put our environment at risk as they are alleged to have concerns about the “Clean Water Act” and its broad reach. This important piece of legislation has helped keep our water clean from wastewater for years, yet some of these justices are seemingly more worried about government overreach. Please sign this petition to urge Congress to codify the Clean Water Act into law!

In Norway, almost 600 whales were slaughtered during the whaling season this year. Even though the International Whaling Commission banned commercial whaling almost 40 years ago, Norway killed over 15,000 during that time. On top of this, only 2% of Norwegians eat whale meat regularly and the demand for it has been steadily declining. Whales are also often shot with grenade harpoons, a brutal weapon that can lead to whales suffering for up to half an hour before they die. Please sign this petition to tell Norway’s government to ban commercial whaling once and for all!
As midterm elections approach, Americans have an important choice to make. Republicans are more likely to ignore human-caused Climate change, be against abortion, and LGBTQ rights, and are even willing to put children’s lives at risk by not voting for gun safety laws. On top of that, many Republican governors haven’t even shown up to debate their opponents, which doesn’t seem to be very pro-democracy. Please sign this petition to pledge to vote for Democratic leaders this coming election!

Recently, a disabled man who worked at Wendy’s for more than two decades was fired and told that he “couldn’t do his job like a normal person.” The man didn’t even receive notice before his termination. The company has since offered him his job back and stated that it was an “unfortunate mistake,” but he has instead decided to enter early retirement. Discrimination against people with disabilities is all too common in the workplace. Please sign this petition to pressure Wendy’s to fire the employee who harassed and fired this man!

Some politicians in Switzerland have launched a proposal to fine people 1,000 Swiss francs if they are wearing a face covering. The proposal doesn’t explicitly refer to burqas or niqabs, but it does make exceptions for face coverings to protect against COVID-19, so it’s rather suspicious. People should be able to wear what they want in public, especially if no one else is being hurt by it. Please sign this petition to demand the Swiss government ditch this proposal!

A young girl in India was raped and hurt badly. She was found lying unconscious and when she awoke, onlookers filmed her as she pleaded with them for help. There were almost 30,000 reported cases of rape in India in 2020, and it continues to be a problem. The girl has been treated for her injuries but her assailant is still out there. Please sign this petition to urge the police to find this man and bring him to justice!

Undercover footage of a chicken factory farm in Germany was recently released by the animal protection NGO Equalia. The poultry farm is a supplier for the supermarket chain Lidl. The footage shows workers wringing the neck of birds, urinating in the shed, corpses littered everywhere, and chickens too sick and deformed to access food or water. Please sign this petition to demand Lidl join the European Chicken commitment and end this disgraceful treatment of chickens!
In Florida, a four-year-old pup named Daisy was stuffed into a plastic storage bin and thrown off a bridge, dropping 15 feet to the ground below. Luckily, a dog walker was nearby who witnessed the incident and alerted authorities. Daisy has since been saved and adopted, but the perpetrator is still out there and may be terrorizing other animals in the meantime. Please sign this petition to demand Florida police use their resources to find this animal abuser!

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has rounded up, held captive, and killed millions of horses and burros over the years. On top of this, they are using taxpayer money to commit these atrocities. A new bill has been proposed which would call for more humane management practices, transparency, and habitat restoration. Please sign this petition to tell Congress to pass this important piece of legislation!
