This kitten named Matilda, along with her brothers and sisters, fell into an open drain pipe and found themselves in serious trouble. Sadly, by the time Kamm’s Cat Guardians Rescue was notified and arrived on the scene, three of the kittens from the litter didn’t make it. However, Matilda is a true survivor and fought for her life!

With help from Craig and Mike from WKYC Channel 3 (who have assisted with many animal rescues) and Jim from Home Depot on W 117 & Berea Rd (who quickly constructed a device to grab the kitten), they were able to rescue this last one, reported Kamm’s Cat Guardians in a Facebook post.
Matilda wasn’t breathing when she came out of the water, but after rescuers performed CPR on her and rushed her to MedVet, there was hope. Soon after arriving at MedVet, she came around and started crying, which was a huge relief to everyone involved. They wrapped her up in a warm blanket and kept a close eye on her until her body temperature was back up to normal and got her appetite back.
Thanks to Gary, Kym, Jim, Craig, and Mike, this little one has a long and healthy life ahead of her. Although everyone was heartbroken that her brothers and sisters were not as lucky, they were grateful for little Matilda’s survival. The rescue also urged people to cover any open drain pipes in their yards to prevent an emergency like this from happening again.
