We already know that captivity is detrimental to whales, however, leadership at Marineland in Canada has not responded to protest. Over the past two years, more than fifteen beluga whales have died at the park’s facilities, and Marineland has not put a statement or addressed the horrible incidents in any way. In 2019 Marineland documents show that 54 beluga whales lived at the park in Ontario. As of September 25, 2021, only 39 or 40 belugas are still there. If this is true, it means that around four to five whales are dying in captivity each year for the past two years.

Beluga whales are vulnerable to many stressors and threats, especially human disturbance, and captivity. It has become clear that Marineland is a death sentence for the endangered species. Sign this petition to demand the Canadian government shut Marineland down now before any more whales die!
