Norman Reedus plays the tough as nails, zombie killing juggernaut Daryl Dixon on the Walking Dead but, in real life, he’s an animal lover and proud cat parent.
Between speaking out against cosmetics testing for Cruelty-Free International and buying new, tricked out jeeps for travel because his beloved rescue cat is afraid to fly, this geek-fighting bad ass is a cat obsessed softie at heart.
The rescue cat in question, who Reedus’s son named Eye In The Dark due to his jet black coat, may not have had much of a chance in life due to his unsocialized disposition had anyone other than Mr. Crossbow himself happened upon him. But, it takes a lot more than some hissing and scratching to scare off a guy who fights the undead, so the two became a dynamic duo.
Their close bond really resonated with Activist Pug, our crusader for animal welfare and champion for creatures big and small. Together, Activist Pug and Norman Reedus decided to take a break from fighting the zombie apocalypse to share the message that supporting your local shelter by adopting instead of buying a pet from a breeder or pet store is the way to go.
Not only does it help to keep pet overpopulation down, it saves the life of an animal that just wants to love you while you defend animal and human kind alike from hordes of walkers.
