Anyone who has a furry companion knows about Chewy. They’re like the Amazon of the animal world in that you can get everything you need right on their online store. From toys to food to medicine, and more — they have everything you need to keep your pet thriving and healthy. It makes sense, therefore, that they’d be concerned about how animals are doing during these scary times. With the coronavirus pandemic, shelters are in desperate need of people to foster and adopt and animals could be euthanized. So Chewy is stepping up to help.
Chewy announced a donation in excess of $1.7 million to help animal welfare organizations. They partnered with GreaterGood.org to help shelters across the country. Liz Baker, CEO of GreaterGood.org says: “The unprecedented sheltering crisis that has resulted from the pandemic leaves many animal welfare organizations without basic supplies, and pet food is in especially in high demand. Chewy’s donations make it possible for many shelters to continue to save pets’ lives through this difficult time.”
Over the past month, Chewy’s network of non-profit distribution has been donating to shelters and rescue organizations in areas that are severely affected like New York, and they will continue to Donate food and supplies through the month of April in partnership with GreaterGood.org.
If you’d like to help animals as well, you can foster or adopt. Or you can Donate to your local shelters, or even sponsor an animal. You can also sign this petition to help the animals abandoned in Wuhan during their shutdown.
