A St. Bernard was rescued after collapsing while walking down England’s highest mountain. The 121-pound St. Bernard, named Daisy, was climbing down Scafell Pike in North West England when she began showing signs of pain in her rear legs and refused to move.
Members of the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team took over five hours to carry Daisy down the mountain, crossing steep hills and even a waterfall.

According to a Facebook statement from the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team, “Daisy’s owners were able to keep her well-hydrated and fed until team members were able to get on scene with a stretcher to help get them moving again quickly as the weather was due to deteriorate later that evening.”
“She apparently feels a bit guilty and slightly embarrassed about letting down the image of her cousins bouncing across the Alpine snows with barrels of brandy around their necks,” the rescue team joked.
Normally, St. Bernard dogs rescue humans on the mountains due to their great sense of direction and resistance to cold temperatures. Since the 18th century, St. Bernard dogs have been helping rescue teams in the mountains after bad snowstorms. Over a span of nearly 200 years, about 2,000 people have been rescued thanks to these dogs.
