According to a study by researchers from Kyoto University in Japan, dogs exhibit judgmental tendencies, particularly towards humans. The study revealed that dogs, especially females, prefer individuals who demonstrate competence in fulfilling tasks, indicating a conscious decision-making process in their interactions.

In the study, dogs were presented with two individuals—one proficient and one struggling—to open a food container. Female dogs consistently gravitated toward the competent individual, underscoring their ability to discern and prioritize interactions based on perceived competency.

Tony’s human described him as a typical 2-year-old golden retriever, affectionate and playful, yet with a discerning eye for behavior. Despite his laid-back demeanor indoors, Tony springs to life with boundless energy outdoors—a characteristic familiar to many dog owners.

The TikTok video featuring Tony got over 7,500 views and 745 likes, sparking a conversation among users about their own dogs’ reactions to similar scenarios portrayed on “Dogs Behaving Very Badly.”
