In Oklahoma, the Humane Society of the United States is aiding local law enforcement in rescuing over 100 animals from a suspected cruelty case. The animals, including dogs, goats, fish, a pig, and companion birds like parrots and cockatoos, were found in deplorable conditions. Teams from Operation Kindness and Black Beauty Ranch, a sanctuary run by the Humane Society, are also on the ground assisting with the rescue efforts.
When responders arrived, they found the animals in freezing temperatures. Several dogs were chained outdoors with little shelter, shivering from the cold. Many of the dogs appeared malnourished, with visible signs of underweight, including protruding ribs and hips, and several had untreated injuries. The dogs and pig had no access to food or water, and the goats had only a frozen water trough. The birds, kept indoors, were confined to empty cages with no enrichment.
The animals have been moved to undisclosed locations where they will receive veterinary care and attention. Further updates on this rescue operation are expected in the coming days.
