Another tragedy has struck Zimbabwe’s wildlife. Blondie, a beloved GPS-collared lion studied by Oxford researchers, was allegedly lured from protected land and gunned down by a wealthy trophy hunter. His death mirrors that of Cecil the Lion almost a decade ago — proof that Zimbabwe’s promise to change has not been kept.
Zimbabwe still allows up to 100 lions to be killed every year, mostly by foreign tourists paying thousands just to take photos with dead animals. Authorities insist Blondie’s killing was “legal,” but conservationists say he was too young and should never have been baited from safe territory. Now his pride is left leaderless, and his cubs face an uncertain future.
This is not Conservation. It is cruelty for profit. Sign the petition now and tell Zimbabwe to finally ban trophy hunting.
