Pigs in a stable. Pigs are eating while one of them is sick and trying to stand up. Pig flu, animal diseases

Factory farms are notorious for overcrowding, disease, and cruelty—and the sickest victims are “downed” pigs, animals too weak or injured to stand. These pigs are often subjected to horrific abuse, including being kicked, shocked, and dragged. Yet their meat can still be sold for human consumption, putting both animals and people at risk.

Congresswoman Veronica Escobar has reintroduced the Pigs and Public Health Act. This bill would ban the slaughter and sale of meat from downed pigs, improve transparency, and strengthen protections for these animals. It’s a simple, commonsense step to prevent needless cruelty and reduce the risk of zoonotic diseases spreading to humans.

We cannot allow factory farms to profit from suffering while endangering public health. Sign the petition now to demand Congress pass this vital legislation. Sign now and help stop this cruelty today.
