It’s amazing what people can do when they unite for one cause – and in this case, for one animal – an Indian cow who had slipped and fell into a 10-foot deep ditch.
Animal Aid Unlimited’s Claire Abrams tells OGP, “India is a country where animals living on the streets are accepted and they are even protected by law. Millions of cows, dogs, donkeys and other animals roam the streets, by-and-large living happy lives. However, care for street animals in need is not available in most cities across the country.”
This is where Animal Aid, a rescue center for street animals in Udaipur, India, comes in. The organization routinely helps animals in need, receiving between 15 to 25 calls to their emergency helpline number every day, Abrams tells us.
In order to save the fallen female cow, local residents phoned Animal Aid and two rescuers were sent to the scene.
Once Animal Aid’s rescuers arrived, they asked neighbors and passersby to join them and many immediately stepped in to help rescue the cow from the mudded ditch.

As Abrams tells OGP, “At the end of the day, not only will this sweet old girl never forget the kindness she was shown, but we are sure that the men will never forget the experience either … Every rescue not only saves, but changes lives.”
