We just love when animals are treated like the sentient beings they are, and this great video about new prosthetic legs for Hero the calf, a Virginia-born calf that lost of his back legs due to frostbite, shows that we humans can do some really great things for animals in need.
After being found on a Virgina farm with legs that needed to be amputated, Hero was driven by his rescuer, Kitty Martin, all the way to Texas, where he got a whole new set of legs — and thus a whole new lease on life.
Check out the video for the full story of this awesome little (ok, not so little at a few hundred pounds!) calf and the awesome people that have come to his rescue the same way we might help another fellow human. Here’s to people who get that animals deserve the same kind of help — in this case, hooves — that we would afford other sentient beings in need!

IF the Martins were funding this out of their own pocket and paying all the bills I could truly see this as a "good thing" for all those involved. However, they "claimed" to be a 501c3 to illegally solicit donations, still owe the teaching hospital money (or so they fundraised for recently) and owed money to the first TWO businesses that built the first TWO sets of legs. In fact the second company had built a third set of legs that were waiting on payment while Ms. Martin was finding a way to get Hanger Prosthetics to create these spotted legs.
Ms. Martin has been ordered by the State of Virginia to not solicit from their residents and had to agree to do so. Ms. Martin has had complaints filed against her with the IRS for the false 501c3 claims and now individuals that donated large amounts are unable to receive tax credit.
Finally, watch how the steer drags his back legs. I\’m so pleased that the manufacturer had observed hours of footage of healthy steers walking to replicate the movement, but this steer does not have the muscle memory or the knowledge on how to walk as a normal steer would. Who is going to do physical rehabilitative training on this animal to teach him how to use his rear legs correctly?

You\’re pathetic. This is a sentient being and yes he is a hero. Not a contract killer for your sad country.
