Funny Labrador Retriever Doesn’t Want to Leave Vet’s Office

Although many dogs will do anything to avoid the veterinarian, one Labrador Retriever named Ozzy is the opposite. The sweet pup loves vet visits, where he gets lots of attention and treats. Indeed, a TikTok video posted to the account @drtom83 shows Ozzy refusing to leave! Instead, the dog sprawls on the floor, certain that if he doesn’t budge, he will simply get to spend more time with his friends.

In the video, the Labrador Retriever can be seen lying on his back as the vet scratches his belly and cuddles with him. However, ultimately Ozzy does need to leave so he can continue his day. But the pup refuses, clearly content to hang out with the veterinary team. Eventually, the team coaxes the Labrador Retriever to get up, but he clearly isn’t happy to be saying goodbye.

A caption on the video reads, “Ozzy is back for another ear infection and he doesn’t want to go home”. The video racked up over 128,000 likes and many comments. TikTok user julespiskula wrote, “He got that ear infection on purpose to go see his bff Doctor. I’m sure of it!”

While Ozzy loves the vet, not all dogs are as comfortable receiving medical treatment. To make vet visits go more smoothly, it is recommended that people spend a few minutes per day getting their dogs accustomed to being handled as though they are at the vet’s office. This may include checking their paws, handling their ears, belly, and tail, and checking their teeth. Afterward, be sure to reward with praise and treats. Additionally, stopping by the vet’s office for a treat may be a good way for fearful dogs to form a positive association with the location.
